Description
The LABOTRIX LASER X2 is a digital CNC laser machine for engraving images and cutting blanks in non-metallic materials from jobs prepared on a personal computer. It is built around a CO₂ gas laser tube, a coordinate table with electric drives on the X and Y axes and a work table adjustable in height along the Z axis, and it is used in school workshops, craft classrooms and art centres to make engraved and cut items from wood, acrylic, leather, fabric, paper, cardboard and other combustible materials. Water cooling protects the laser tube from overheating, an air assist improves the cutting process and an extraction fan removes acrid fumes, while the control system lets the operator set processing power and speed to reach the best result on each material, and the control panel gives a straightforward interface for starting jobs and monitoring their progress. The machine is supplied with personal protective equipment, special tooling for servicing the machine and finishing the completed items, consumables for one school year, software and teaching materials for use in the educational process.
The 50 W laser tube emits in the invisible infrared range and is driven by a power supply of 20,000 V DC; with the enclosure closed the machine is a class 1 product. The engraving and cutting field measures 400 × 400 mm, maximum traverse speed is 500 mm per second, positioning speed is 400 mm per second and the cutting feed runs from 0 to 50 mm per second. Laser power is set from 0 to 99.9 % of the energy in steps of 0.1 %, processing resolution is 1000 dots per inch and positioning repeatability is ±0.05 mm, with a visible red diode laser used for alignment. Control is by an RD controller or an M2/M3 board running RDWorksV8 or LaserDRW 2013.02, which accept WMF files for engraving, PLT files for cutting and RD files for stand-alone jobs; the machine connects to a computer over USB, runs jobs from a USB flash drive and joins a local network over Ethernet. It works from a single-phase AC supply of 220 V or 110 V with a tolerance of 10 % at 50/60 Hz with mandatory earthing, measures 900 × 750 × 420 mm, and uses water cooling with a submersible pump and reservoir or an industrial chiller, air assist from a compressor for vector cutting, and an extraction fan with corrugated ducting for fume removal. Laser and cooling status is shown by indicator lights on the control panel, marking and operating documentation are in Ukrainian, the service life is 5 years and the warranty period is 12 months.
The delivery set includes the digital CNC laser machine, a special protective table with a frame and support beams, a set of protective goggles for laser radiation, a set of special tools for servicing the machine during work and for finishing the completed items, a submersible water pump for cooling, an air compressor for the cutting air assist, an extraction fan with corrugated ducting for fume removal, a USB data cable for connection to a computer, a honeycomb table or a table with knife blades, a ruler for setting the focal distance, a medium carrying the software and drivers, consumables for making items — plywood, acrylic, cardboard, leatherette, paper and others to the order specification — as a set for one school year, a set of teaching materials for the educational process with lesson instructions, project examples and safety rules, the operating instructions and machine passport, the passport with the warranty card, and individual transport packaging. An industrial chiller is an accessory supplied separately, and the exact content of the set is defined by the order configuration.
The machine stands on a level, firm floor or a dedicated stand near a ventilation opening, in premises at +5 to +40 °C and 40 to 60 % relative humidity without condensation. Work is organised by a teacher or a laboratory assistant who has been instructed in occupational safety, and students work under direct supervision; the recommended age is from 10 years, that is grade 5 and above. The CO₂ beam is invisible and the machine is never run with protective panels removed, the goggles supplied are worn wherever exposure to the beam is possible, and the red pointing laser is never looked into directly. Water circulation is checked before every job, the air assist is switched on for vector cutting, and the machine is never left unattended while running. A serviceable carbon dioxide extinguisher of class E or an ABC powder extinguisher with a capacity of 2.3 kg is kept ready, and the machine is never operated without a working extraction and ventilation system. Daily removal of material residue and dust from the honeycomb table, weekly wiping of the lenses and mirrors with a soft cotton swab moistened in 75 % alcohol solution, monthly cleaning of the laser head and quarterly replacement of the reservoir water with clean distilled water keep the machine in condition; repairs are carried out only by an authorised service centre.
