A 45 cm dismountable human torso model of 23 parts with removable internal organs and interchangeable male and female genital organs, for biology lessons in schools.
This dismountable model of the human torso demonstrates the position and structure of the internal organs. It shows the organs of the head and of the thoracic and abdominal cavities and separately reproduces the respiratory, digestive, urinary and nervous systems, and it is used in biology lessons in educational institutions when studying the structure of the human body, metabolism, respiration, digestion and excretion. Preparation and disassembly are carried out by the teacher or the laboratory assistant, and pupils work under supervision; the recommended age of learners is from 10 years, that is pupils of grade 5 and above.
The height of the model is 45 cm and it dismantles into 23 separate parts, which allows the organs to be examined from all sides and handed to pupils for tactile study. The parts are made of polymer plastic (PVC), and the colour finish is a realistic tinting that reproduces the typical shades of human tissues and organs. The configuration is unisex, with the possibility of installing male or female genital organs, so the set covers the anatomical features of both; the thorax is opened for access to the organs of the mediastinum, and the head is made on a sagittal section for demonstration of the internal structure. The respiratory system is represented by the lungs, the trachea and the respiratory organs in the section of the head; the circulatory system by the heart and the great vessels; the digestive system by the stomach, the liver, the intestine and the oesophagus; the urinary system by the kidney with a visible internal structure; and the nervous system by the brain, the spinal cord and the peripheral nerves. The model is mounted on a stable base that holds it steady on a table.
The set includes the torso, that is the base of the model with the opened thoracic and abdominal cavities — 1 pc, the head on a sagittal section — 1 pc, the brain — 1 pc, an eyeball — 1 pc, a spinal nerve — 1 pc, the lungs, left and right — 2 pcs, the heart in two parts — 2 pcs, the liver — 1 pc, a kidney — 1 pc, the stomach in two parts — 2 pcs, the intestine in four parts — 4 pcs, male genital organs in two parts — 2 pcs, female genital organs with a fetus in three parts — 3 pcs, the anterior wall of the thorax, a removable female chest — 1 pc, the passport with the warranty coupon — 1 pc, and individual transport packaging — 1 pc. The model is supplied assembled and needs no assembly or fitting before the first use.
The model is placed on a stable, level horizontal surface with free space around it for laying out the removed organs. Disassembly follows a set order, from the front and upper parts to the rear and lower ones, and the organs are laid out from left to right in the order of removal, which serves as a prompt during reassembly; assembly is performed in the reverse order, and the anterior wall of the thorax has to fit tightly without gaps. Most parts are held in their own recesses or on pins, without screws or latches. Some organs have sharp edges at the cuts, so the internal surfaces are handled carefully, and parts with visible defects are withdrawn from use until repair; after work the completeness is checked against the full list and pupils wash their hands. Dust is removed with a soft brush or a dry cloth, heavier soiling with a cloth slightly moistened in warm water with a neutral detergent followed by wiping dry, while alcohol, acetone, solvents, abrasive powders and chlorine-based agents are excluded and the organs are not washed under a stream of water or immersed in liquid. The product is kept in a dry, clean and ventilated heated room at an air temperature from +5 to +40 °C and relative humidity of 80 % without condensation, away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. Marking and operating documentation are in Ukrainian, and the marking carries the trade mark, the model and a place for the inventory number. The service life is 5 years and the warranty period is 12 months from the date of sale.
