Description
This digital laser rangefinder determines distances and the linear dimensions of rooms – length, width and height – quickly and precisely. Besides direct measurement it automatically calculates area and volume, performs indirect measurements by the Pythagorean theorem, adds and subtracts results and stores them in memory. It is used in educational institutions in mathematics, physics and technical subjects for the practical study of measurement and geometry.
The measuring range depends on the modification and amounts to 40, 50, 60, 80, 100 or 120 metres. The measurement error is ±(2 + 0.00005 × D) millimetres, where D is the distance in millimetres, which at a distance of 1 m corresponds approximately to ±2 mm. The device uses a class 2 laser with a wavelength of 630-670 nm and a power below 1 mW for aiming at the target object, and shows results on a digital display with sound indication. It provides continuous measurement, measurement of area and volume, measurement by the Pythagorean theorem, addition and subtraction of results, and a memory for 99 sets of data. The laser switches off automatically after 30 seconds and the device itself after about 180 seconds. The housing is made of impact-resistant plastic and measures 110 × 48 × 25 mm. Power is supplied by two AA cells of 1.5 V, which are not part of the delivery set. The working temperature range is from 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, and the storage temperature range is from −20 to 60 degrees Celsius at a relative humidity from 20 to 80 percent.
The set includes the laser rangefinder assembled – 1 pc, a user manual – 1 pc, a fabric case for storage – 1 pc, a transparent packing bag – 1 pc, a passport with a warranty card – 1 pc, and individual transport packaging – 1 pc. The product is supplied fully assembled and needs only the installation of two AA cells, which the user acquires separately.
To work with the device, press the DIST button to switch it on, aim the red laser point at the target and press DIST again to take the measurement; holding DIST starts continuous measurement with the current, maximum and minimum values on the display, one press of FUNC opens the area mode for two sides and two presses open the volume mode for length, width and height. The housing carries the laser marking “Laser radiation. Do not stare into the beam”: the beam is never directed at the eyes of the operator or of other people, nor at mirrors, polished metals, tinted windows and other highly reflective surfaces, and the class works at a safe distance from the beam under the supervision of the teacher. Wipe the housing with a soft dry cloth and treat the optical window and the display delicately, as optical lenses, without solvents, alcohol, acetone or abrasives, and do not immerse the device in water. If the device is not used for a long time, remove the cells to prevent electrolyte leakage and corrosion of the contacts. The service life is 5 years and the warranty period is 12 months from the date of sale.
